Diving in Culebra, an island east of Puerto Rico

Culebra Island in Puerto RicoAfter a couple of months of hearing about this incredible island east of Puerto Rico, yesterday I got the chance to finally have my first scuba diving experience in 2 of it’s reefs.

It was raining in San Juan de Puerto Rico, but you know tropical climates, it changes fast. We drove from San Juan to Fajardo, were the boat takes off to Culebra at 6am. It took around 50 minutes to get there.

We headed to the luxurious El Conquistador hotel ( more on El Conquistador Hotel in Fajardo ) as soon as we got there. We walked to the boating area ( a beautiful area with nice colored townhouses the hotel rents right in front of the water ). It was very early, so we had to wait as we waited for the rest of the other divers, around 20 other guys from blue Dolphin Scuba all anxious to get on the boat Culebra. The sea was pretty tough because of the weather, but it wasn’t that bad. One hour on the boat and we arrived to Culebra Island.
